U.S. Library of Congress has some great historical maps of Cambodia, including this beautiful one that shows the reach of the Khmer Empire in 1290 AD and 1760 AD.

Many thanks to the brilliant SED for her work and research! Check it out at cityofwater.wordpress.com!

This video just released today from International Conference of Crisis Mappers 2012. The study was conducted by Taylor Owen as a project for his thesis.

Taylor Owen mapped 200,000 sortie attacks against Cambodian villages during the US campaign in the 1970s, using IBM punch card data released during the Clinton era.

Exploring the evidence, Owen fact checks Nixon’s statements, finding bombardment began 4 years before the attacks, and that Kissinger bombed civilian villages, contrary to his claims.

More evidence Siem Reap, Cambodia is a happening pace for all that is creative and artistic.

The fifth Angkor Photo Festival, which brought professional photographers from all around the world, highlighted many issues facing people living in Asia. Part one of this three-part series features Andri Tambunan, a young photographer who spent 8 months covering the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Papua New Guinea. Andy Jones from on-scene.

"So many metaphysical revelations. I really wanted to create a real human being, and digging in me, and what moves me, and questioning myself about my ancestors, and people I didn’t get to know. Researching for that character just had me become even more aware of the conditions of the world, and mainly in Cambodia — my country — I always wanted to be a voice to fight against the injustice. But I could never do that. But now I have a voice to be heard."
